Ship Lengths in Escape Velocity:
by Mike Lee

We've all heard the expression "It's only a game" a lot. And one thing it's always said about is the scaling of objects in EV. It's always weird when a ship eclipses a planet, and never did make sense that a Lightning could fit inside a Kestrel.

Of course, Matt Burch obviously didn't bother to make the ships to scale; the lengths you got in the Ship Info box didn't correspond to the sizes you saw. But, what if he did? This is what the ships would look like:

Unless EV was played on a very, very large monitor, if ships were modeled to scale, we'd have to deal either with nearly invisible fighters and transports or warships covering multiple screens. Here's one place where we're glad "it's only a game."
