ARCHIVES- AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2000

Fan's League:   Misc. - 08/18/2000 - If your cranium is full of
international factoids, give this trivia game a whirl. You choose a
league to represent, and the points you earn will go toward that
league's total. A question will appear on the screen, and if you can
answer correctly before anyone else, you will earn twice the points.
The first league to ten points wins the round, and then a new round
begins. The questions cover a wide range of information, most of it
pertaining to events across the "big pond."

Aevum Obscurum:   Strategy - 08/17/2000 - Everybody wants to
rule the world. It is 1200 AD Europe, and you desire a lion's share
of global control. Build and deploy a strong military, appease the
people you rule, and be careful who you choose as friends and
enemies. Don't forget that everyone else in the world is
attempting to attain the same prize: unlimited power.

Suspicion of Murder:   Adventure - 08/16/2000 - Someone has
been murdered, and there is no obvious suspect. It will take a
careful and observant sleuth to uncover the culprit in this crime.
Even if you don't possess any of those skills, give it your best shot.
After all, someone is dead. Search the crime scene, talk to
everyone you can, and assume nothing. The help section of this
game is well done.

Battlefield:   Strategy - 08/15/2000 - You begin Battlefield as
a recruit. Choose a region and join a troop. You move up in
rank by winning battles. I suggest reading the manual and
playing in the practice field first, as this will allow you to get
acclimated to the game play. All month long, Bonus holds
Battlefield
tournaments on the weekends.

Clever Moves:   Strategy - 08/11/2000 - You will find yourself the
newly appointed leader of a country, and with this title comes a
lot of responsibility. You must make decisions for your country to
build a prospering economy, stable foreign relations, and a welfare
system. It isn't always easy to juggle all the elements, but it will
give you a taste of the struggle our world leaders face.

Drop Zone:   Board/Card/Puzzle - 08/08/2000 - The object of this
game is to get at least four blocks of the same color to touch. That
will make them disappear. Blocks will fall in groups of two. Think
ahead, so color grouping will be easier.

Apocalypse Outpost:   Action - 08/07/2000 - Defend the outpost
until the backup command ships arrive. Things will get worse before
they improve, but you're up to the task. Just blast anything that comes
near you.

Banana Battle:   Arcade - 08/07/2000 - You and another gorilla are
battling to be king of the jungle. You have explosive bananas, and
you're lobbing them at each another. Find the correct combination
of trajectory and power, and blow up your opponent.

The Old Testament Text Adventure:   Adventure - 08/04/2000 - You
begin your adventure with children, sheep, and no boils. Depending
on the choices you make, you could lose your family, livestock, and
be plagued with boils. There is plenty of humor mixed in as your
relationship with the holy one grows. I reserve judgment on the
accuracy of God in this game. ;)

iPong:   Arcade - Prize - 08/01/2000 - Pong is still alive and well.
You can play classic Pong or enjoy some friendly competition in the
multiplayer version. Power iPong + (the same old Pong, but in 3D)
or Pong Trivia are also available to add spice. In a daily drawing,
prizes are available to high scorers.

Cannon:   Arcade - 07/31/2000 - The object of this game is to destroy
the computer's cannon. A building sits between the two cannons,
and you have five rounds to find the correct height and speed to
blow up the opposite cannon. And beware of the airplane that
flies through and drops artillery--do not let this hit you.

Antaris Realspace:   Action - 07/28/2000 - Fleet command has
entrusted you with the protection of the entire fleet. You can choose
between two missions. The first requires you to get a resupply ship to
the United Fleet Force, and in the other you play
"sector wars," battling the Karuri all over the galaxy. Do your part
for the war.

Egg-a-Tron:   Board/Card/Puzzle - 07/26/2000 - Puzzles like this
could make you legally insane. Your task is to make all the arrows
on the board show green lights. You can click on the hens above the
pegs to make them drop eggs that will switch the arrows that they hit.
Unfortunately, you don't know which way the eggs will fall, and for
every light you change to green, there is a green shifted back to red.
It is absolutely maddening.

Avalanche: Icetris 2:   Arcade - 07/25/2000 - This is the fiercest
game of Tetris you will ever play. You will compete with up to four
other people to be the last player alive. As in classic Tetris, you're
dead if your blocks touch the top of the screen. This version also has
little creatures called puds that can be trapped to create power-ups
you can use against your opponents. But be careful, as your
competitors will use their powers to add rows and
drop snowflake blocks to your board.

Snapple Speedway:   Racing - 07/25/2000 - Green means go as
fast as you can. Choose between Cosmic Cherry Bomb, Fuzzy
Formula 1, Top Banana Dragster, or Sportberry Utility Vehicle,
and get ready to race your fruity socks off! Drive under the
rockets whenever possible--they put you in turbo drive, so you
can smoke the other produce.

Diib's Dilemma:   Action - 07/19/2000 - Diib, an ancient
necromancer, took you in as his student. Eager to learn more
powerful spells, you demand Diib teach you more. In retaliation
to your demands, he bans you to dilemma tower to succeed or die.
Battle the tower full of monsters, and improve your
powers as you go!

Hexadome:   Strategy - 07/18/2000 - In the Hexadome universe,
energy is the most valuable commodity you can possess. Your
goal is to attain and defend energy outlets. Build the strongest army
you can, and use your leadership knowledge to take over Hexadome.
There is an extensive tutorial that will help you get acquainted with
the units and gameplay. Each game runs until there is a winner.
The game is still in beta, so be aware of bugs.

Scorched Earth 2000:   Action - 07/18/2000 - You command a
tank, and your objective is to blow up your opponents. The game
allows as many as eight AI opponents. Each tank is placed on
different cliffs of a mountain, and each has plenty of ammunition.
Fire away.

Good Fruit, Bad Fruit!:   Action - 07/17/2000 - There is a wild
party in Paradise Park and all your buddies are awaiting your
arrival. Pick your party persona, Strawberry Sweetheart or
Peachie Keen and head to the park. Your job is to supply the
cornucopias, so grab as many as you can on your way to
the party. The bottles of Snapple will keep your strength
up as you collect the goodies. Have fun at the party!

IQ:   Misc. - Prize - 07/14/2000 - Do you know all sorts
of random facts? Then play IQ, and put that knowledge to
good use. Not only will you be ranked by your score, but you
will be listed according to you average reaction time to
questions. So pay attention and answer quickly. Registering
as a Riddler member makes you eligible for cool prizes.
