The Silent Ruins of Earth

Welcome to the SRE home page. The Silent Ruins of Earth is a total conversion plug-in for Ambrosia's game EV: Nova. It is being developed by Pesimist Guy, Dan, and 21st Century Digital Boy, who can be reached at Pesimist_guy@hotmail.com, 696man@swirvemail.com and rockaddict2000@yahoo.com.

Once, the galaxy was united and peaceful. That was a long time ago. Sometime during the reign of the United Republic, something went wrong. The United Republic, which had grown more powerful than any government should have been, grew very corrupt and unjust. There was a rebellion, which was only successful because it was supported by almost everyone. The Great War may not have been very long, but it was devastating. Billions were killed, entire worlds were rendered uninhabitable, mighty governments and corporations rose and fell in a matter of weeks, and the human race - once strong and solid - was shattered like pieces of glass strewn across the vast galaxy. The United Republic fell, but the Rebellion - which was never truly organized to begin with - fell apart into numerous different fractions. Separated by vast tracks of deep space, each of the five clusters went their own way. They eventually became the Vespasian League, the Core, the Nassanite Confederation, the Pledias Union, and the Guild's Cartel. Initially, this consisted of each government trying to keep their cluster from slipping into the semi anarchy that befell the Core.

200 years later, the galaxy is barely recognizable. Three of the five clusters have developed into stable enough governments to look past their borders. The Scrren showed up, and started causing nightmares for the Vespasian League. The Slave trade, which the UR fought so valiantly to exterminate, is once again booming. The Nassanite Confederation has discovered a mysterious gateway left by some ancient alien race, which they believe leads to another galaxy. The Guild's Cartel and the Vespasian League are in constant competition with each other to extend their influence over the rest of the galaxy - sometimes through any means necessary. The Core has, if anything, gotten worse. It is now the battle ground for the Goblins and the New Gobians, two viscous pirate fractions. The Pledias Union is still engaged in a day to day struggle to keep it's resources safe from pirates and it's people safe from slavers. Despite this, their people's varying interests and beliefs are constantly undermining their own efforts at unification. While it may seem that the worst of the conflicts are behind the galaxy, it is becoming more apparent every day that there may be much more to come...    (click The Story to read more)
