*NEW*May 31, 2005: After another extremely long period of silence, I'm finally admitting defeat. Not only have I been in development of some form or another for 4 years with not a terribly large amount of work to show for it, but my computer has also decided to throw a wrench in the works by having a hard drive crash and wiping out some crucial project data. SO, I'm taking the project out of active development for these and other reasons, sorry for anyone thats been monitoring the progress for a while. I'll probably keep work on it when I feel like it, but don't sit waiting in anticipation. I wish these difficulties hadn't come up, but something was bound to go wrong when a 13 year old (at the time) takes on a 20-some book series and expects it to be done in the amount of time I'd wanted. Sorry to disappoint.
March 06, 2004: This is to clear up the last news post. Due to their current lineup of projects, Eternal Light Studios will not be able to devote many, if any, resources to the project until the summer, so my team will be working pretty much alone until then. I've decided to take the name AlphaZero Gaming as our development label as well. I've put up progress logs at EV-Nova.net, and I'm registering a forum; I'll keep as many updates up as I can.
March 05, 2004: In an interesting turn of events, I recieved a proposal from Eternal Light Studios to become a united development team. I think I'll accept the offer, which means a kickstart in development is very likely to happen. Stay tuned for more frequent updates now, I should have more time for the site now. Also, for member of the the Nations RPG (or whatever its called) web board somewhere on the www that borrowed the graphics for 2 ships off my site: The ships in question were the Bothan Assault Cruiser and NR Shuttle. They were staticked up and had something along the lines of "Wanted Pirate" posted on them. I was both flattered and pissed off that they'd been used. To whoever took them, I'd appreciate it greatly if you'd ask next time, the answer would probably still have been yes.
July 27, 2003: I
am sorry for the lack of updates, I have been busy lately actually working
on the plugin and co-managing a squadron in the Apple
Corps Descent 3 Clan. I've gotten alot of the mapping out of resources
done... once I'm done mapping it out, all that has to be done is for the
mapping to be converted into the actual hard data... shouldn't take too
long except for the sheer number of entries... Holy.
Developement team has changed again...
currently, we have Jason, the other manager of the squadron, working on
programming, SavageZealot is still hanging in and will be working on programming
as well, and me, of course, doing graphics, a small amount of programming,
and mapping out every single resources (1. to make it easier to create
in the first place, 2. so we can go back to the maps if (when) a bug is
discovered.)
The new member on our team is ZestPeel,
who came to me asking if he could help. He has been drafted in for some
of the resource work, as well as his vast collection of music and
sound effects.
I know you're getting restless
there, people! Hold in for a few more months!
April 18, 2003: OK,
I've completely rewritten a new concept for storyline presentation. Each
has a specific intro movie, so a classic Star Wars intro scroll and stuff
for the New Republic/Galactic Alliance and Firebird/mercenary storylines
and an organic-looking cinematic for Yuuzhan Vong (think Zerg cinematics
from StarCraft). Also, each will go under a different game name, under
the combined title of "Star Wars: The New Jedi Order". That will also be
the New Republic title. The Firebird/mercenary storyline will go under
the name "Star Wars: Firebird" and the Yuuzhan Vong storyline will go under
the name of "Star Wars: Point of No Return." Game startup music will be
"Duel of the Fates" for NR, a deep, fast-paced music with several voices
chanting the squadron creed/charter for the Firebird/mercenary storyline,
and either the "Imperial March" or an eirie (sp?) menacing orchestra piece
for the Yuuzhan Vong. The storylines will be contained in seperate folders
and they will need to be placed in seperate of each other to work properly.
As soon as possible, all ship models
will be finished and I can do solid rendering for as long as it takes.
I estimate another 2-3 months until graphics are complete, then the programming
should take a short while. Also, due to the facts that the book series
will not be finished until November, we shall be releasing the missions
in packages. Shouldn't be long until the first one comes out... few months,
people, few months!
April 3, 2003: First
post in a while! Progress back up to speed, Dev. Team down to 3 people:
Me (Gemini14), SavageZealot, and UkraineTrain. Sprites are more than 2/3
done, work starts on programming soon... Hang in there, people, we're still
alive and kicking...
October 15, 2002: Due
to bug reports (stupid Stuffit 7), I have released an AppleScript that
will convert ALL files affected to the Nova plugin format, thereby
fixing them. Simply download and follow the readme if you are running into
the generic document where you should have a plugin.
October 12, 2002: Right,
Teaser 2, with new ship graphics for more fun, has been released by me!
Downloads section or Addons page, you can obtain it at both. Enjoy!
October 4, 2002: Quick
update: the teaser has now been added to the downloads section of this
site, so you can now get it here or at the addons page for EVN.
October 3, 2002: My
custom-installed webboards are virtually empty, thanx to the 5 users who
have signed up for accounts so far. I hope that there are more to come.
Just click on the Webboard link on the side and sign up for your account
today!
Anyways, my EVula email account
is working again, you can contact me at either macgem14@hotmail.com
or tnjo@evula.org. Also, the first
teaser of the series has been posted, take a look at the addons page and
you should find it... (just graphics right now)
Feedback on the teaser graphics
would be appreciated, thanx!
September 19, 2002: Well,
that was tedious. I just transferred every single file from my iDisk to
the EVula server. Stupid Apple, making their service cost money.
O well. My email has changed, the
new account is macGEM14@hotmail.com,
with an EVula account coming soon (when i can figure out how to work it).
One more thing: I am too cheap to upgrade to a full EVula account yet,
so the banners will stay. I know, i don't like them either, but they are
a requirement and i don't want to get booted off of this server (A note:
If they don't show up, don't complain. EVula, the code is there, but it
won't work yet, don't boot me). Work is progressing steadily...
The forums are UP, sign up for
your account as soon as possible!!!!! (the new webboard link, if you were
wondering)
September 7, 2002: Ok,
it turns out I'm not allowed to sell CDs, so that option is no longer available.
However, don't give up just yet, I may find some way to reward a few random
people with a surprise... I have my storyline development
team picked out, so I don't need any more help there. I still need a bunch
of other jobs filled though... Check out the "Star Wars: New Jedi Order"
signup string on the Ambrosia
Software Webboard, and click on "EV Nova Webboard" if you are interested.
The three storyline adaptors besides myself are Apoch2323, DMBandRulzAll,
and Specops.
Also, anyone who wants to be a
beta tester, stop asking right now, you can't beta test when there is not
enough stuff to test yet. Be patient, the time will come...
August 31, 2002: As
you can see, I've gotten the website working for the project!!!!!! It took
a while, but I GOT IT DONE!!! I hate programming floating frames in by
hand.
Anyway, the project is coming along
pretty nicely, with ship graphics doing well. I need help, though, so email
me at macgem14@hotmail.com
if you are familiar with EVN programming and the Star Wars: New Jedi Order
story line. Thx for checking out the site!!!!!
