About Information
"Varter's Familiar Quotations provides quotes from famous authors, philosophers, and theorists from the most earliest eras to modern times and beyond."
What can I say about this site? Well, I created this site to be a quote archive providing quotes from my favorite philosophers, authors, and general people for the public. My original idea for the title of the site, "Varter's Familiar Quotations", derived from one of my quote books, Bartlett's Familiar Quotations, which is the source of many of the quotes found in this archive. Of course, the site can't be all that... This site is also here to host the images I have (though you can't see them ^_^), provide an IRC resource for all those people who don't know what IRC is, or are new to the world of IRC, and basically give me the freedom that I so sorely need. I also created this site to get out some of my opinions. If you haven't already noticed, in addition to just giving out quotes, I also provide translations to them. All translations were made up by me, me, and me alone. If you don't like a certan translation, or think that the quote means something different, then you can E-Mail me bitching about the problem deal with it. :-)
This site is hosted on evula.org, by my good friend EVula. I'm fortunate to have a site hosted by him on one of his multiple domains which ultimately confuse him (The guy owns rights to EVula.com, evula.net, and evula.org not to mention another site: EV-Nova.net. I mean, what the %#$@!?). Heh. Anyway, another reason this site exists is as a chance to show off all the inside jokes I have with some of my friends. Yes, I have friends, and I like sharing jokes. Of course, most of them are inside jokes, and where that happens, I always add my personal translations to even out things and give others a general idea of what the quote is supposed to mean. Instead of just leaving it there for you all to think "How the heck is this supposed to be funny?" Though, you're probably going to think that anyway. :P
About The Creator
Well, about me. My name is Varter pretty much everywhere on the Net, and I can also be known as OldCrankyGranny on AIM. My age and real name are irrelevant, so don't ask about it you'll only get a response with something along the lines of "None of your business." I, just as much as you, probably don't enjoy stalkers on the Net; 'nuff said. I am also Varter on the Ambrosia Web Boards, as well as on the Apple Message Boards, the EVula's Lair Forums, and many, many others. However, I am instead known mostly as Axem_Red at the huge gaming website, GameTalk; but you never know... You might see Varter post there sometimes...
GameTalk is a huge website, and I utilize my time there well. I spend most of my time moderating the three Simpsons Road Rage forums for all systems (GameCube, Playstation 2, Xbox) and helping at the official GameTalk Complaints forum. I also spend some time in the Axem forum, (hence the name, Axem_Red) and in the Pointless forum when I feel like goofing off. If you really want to know more, you can visit my moderator area and even my moderator profile for more in-depth information but that's not really necessary.
For my interests, I am a big Mac person. I like Apple, because I think they do a great job making their computers. I myself have a Power Mac G4 (with two monitors set on "extended desktop" mode) running by my side, and a PowerBook; both running Mac OS 9 (Yeah, I don't have OS X yet; shoot me. If everything I do works fine in OS 9, why switch?). I use both very much, but the G4 is my main machine because it pretty much has my entire iTunes library for my iPod, (5GB model) and much more information. Not to mention that it is my only computer hooked up to a printer, so it's easier to type things on and transfer between the machines. If you don't like Macs, I feel sorry for you. But please, I urge you to visit EVula's Computer Quotes, because it has many great quotes that you might enjoy. Who knows? You might even switch to Macs in light of them...
Well, that's pretty much it. If you've managed to get bored enough reading all of this, you can go back to the front page.
