Smiles
By Clyde
So many, so much,
Full of wisdom, happiness.
A strange affection surges,
An overwhelming rush;
A tear comes to my eye.
A swell of memories,
Voices by the hundreds
Caught in a perpetual echo.
The echo will never leave
Lest a single frame of the memory
Vanishes.
The tear falls.
The tale cut short,
A thousand cliffhangers
Never to be answered,
Always to be remembered.
The epic ended before the ending.
Some bond, some love,
Lacking reason or fancy
Established in the memories.
A sadness, a searching,
Finding a loss,
Lacking in abundance.
Advice, enjoyment,
Simply there to get it over with.
They all look on, looking upon many faces
Without ever seeing where their eyes rest.
The echoes fade as the page turns.
