Love is romance, or so we’re told. Love is that feeling you get when you see someone gorgous and you want them. This is what our children are taught. Everyday on mtv they see beauty queens and ripped guys dancing and having fun. They are taught to judge a person not by who they are, but by what they wear. It is everywhere in our society, and it is wrong. True love is not that feeling where you want someone, it is the feeling you get when you want the best for someone else, even to the exclusion of yourself. True love is blind. True love is not restricted to two people who are dating or married. True love is given freely between partens and children, teachers and students, friends, teammates, classmates, and co-workers. True love will not change; it is eternal and everlasting. True love doesn’t care what you do or what you wear. Love stays true regardless of what other people may think. True love would die for you. Even more, it would live for you. True love will never abanonde you when you fail. Instead, it will pick you up and give you the strength to try again. It will cherish you when all others scorn and protect you when all others attack. True love is not something that you get more of the more you hoard it. In fact, it is the opposite. The more you give, the more you will get back. However, true love is given without thought for reward. It is stupid, for it will give itself to those who have no hope of returning it in kind. Yet true love is beautiful, for it will move mountains to accomplish its goals. True love is selfless, for it will not take the credit for its actions. Take some true love and give it to those around you. For once the world learns to truely love itself, it will be a place where all are happy and content and full of peace.
